Importance of Properly Filing USCIS Documents

When you are applying for a visa or for United States citizenship, there are many documents that need to be filled out. If there is a form that is not completely filled out or is filled out incorrectly, your process may be jeopardized and could take much longer than anticipated. If there is a spelling mistake or the form is filled out illegibly, it may not be valid. If you fail to complete all portions of the form, it may not be valid either. The USCIS prefers those who are filing forms to complete the forms electronically so there are no handwriting discrepancies and then to have them printed and submitted.

You will be informed as to if there was an issue with your form or if it was rejected. It is important that your forms are filed in English or with an attached English translation. If your paperwork was adequate, you will be mailed a Form I-797C that is just a receipt indicating that your forms were successfully received.

If you have questions about filing a form for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, you should consult with an experienced immigration attorney who can help you determine which forms you need to fill out, which fees to pay, and any other steps that you should take to ensure that your process goes as smoothly as possible.

John Sesini is an experienced immigration attorney with offices in Green Bay and Milwaukee Wisconsin. If you have any questions regarding these matters, please contact the Sesini Law Group, S.C. and obtain your initial consultation.
